“We are so excited for Coach James to be our first head coach at the Tennessee Fever,” Williams said. “She comes highly recommended by Coach Darius Taylor (assistant coach of the Atlanta Dream). Her experience playing overseas will be such an asset to our program.”
James had an accomplished career at the University of Georgia. In the 2009-2010 season, James earned the SEC Freshman of the Week honor a league-record five times. Additionally, she was a unanimous selection to the All-SEC Freshman Team. She led the Bulldogs and ranked third in the SEC in minutes played.
After her time at Georgia ended, she continued her playing career professionally. She played for the Phoenix Mercury in the summer of 2013. This stint in the WNBA lead to many seasons with various teams overseas.
Jasmine James is set to be officially introduced at a press conference next week.
